This shop features items created by Nasugraq Rainey Hopson. Creating artwork holds a special and unique spot in our ancient culture. The place we grew up in is the longest inhabited place in Northern America, layers and layers of humanity and creation building upon one another for thousands of years. Artwork is often the only thing that survives those distant years, and so it proves to be one strong connection to the past.

Since I am a product of two worlds, it seems very fitting that I create art pieces and drawings that reflect that combination. I enjoy the process of learning and rejoicing in the finding of that knowledge.

We still live a subsistence lifestyle, with a very large portion of our food and clothing and implements coming from the land/sea/air and with trade with each other. In this adventure I am often left with scraps and leftover pieces that would normally be tossed aside so I decided to use that resource in the creation of jewelry, clothing, and adornments. It is part of my challenge to create something you will love as much as I do from these scraps. In my drawing I try and convey the reverence I feel for our personal relationship with our natural world, lines flavored with a culture older than 10,000 years.

All of the funds raised in this store go directly to this small communities economy and to support our subsistence lifestyle and families.
